Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Series I Want to Start

toptentuespbh

This week, The Broke and the Bookish is asking for the Top Ten (New) Series We Want to Start. I’m going less for NEW and more for NEEEEEED to read. I’m also only including series that I own at least one book from.

  1. The Lumatere Chronicles by Melina Marchetta – HOW DARE I
  2. Scarlet by AC Gaughan – Again, HOW DARE I
  3. Steelheart and The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson – I’m still working through the Mistborn series, no way I am doing more than one of his at any time.
  4. Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin – I’ve heard mixed things, but I have the first book. I think I’m going to wait for this series to finish before I start it.
  5. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas – technically, yes, I’ve read Throne of Glass, but I’m doing a full re-read so I can appreciate it all at once. You know how I love to binge.
  6. Gentleman Bastard by Scott Lynch – I can only do one fantasy series at a time so I can keep the worlds straight. I am excited for this one – I just need to finish the Mistborn books first.
  7. Penryn & The End of Days by Susan Ee – I have the first two books but this is at least a 5 book series. Do I start now or just wait?
  8. The Archived by Victoria Schwab – HOW HAVE I NOT READ THESE YET I DON’T KNOW I’M SORRY
  9. Legend by Marie Lu – I own the entire series. At least one of the books is a signed copy (I love that Target is doing this now). And yet they sit on my shelf, unread.
  10. The Artists Trilogy by Katrina Halle: I won the first two books AGES ago, and I feel bad for not having read them yet. The reviews are good – and from people who’s opinion I trust – so there’s no real reason NOT to read them (except lack of time).

I can’t wait to read everyone’s TTT this week and add even more series to my TBR!

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Series I Seriously Need to Start

toptentuesday2

This week, The Broke and the Bookish is giving us a FREEBIE! These weeks are almost harder than the normal ones since I have to come up with a topic (or just look through old ones and find one I like). This week, I’m doing Top Ten Series I Seriously Need to Start.

  1. Defiance by CJ Redwine
  2. Newsoul by Jodi Meadows
  3. The Lumatere Chronicles by Melina Marchetta – I’m afraid to read another Marchetta after Jellicoe Road
  4. Penryn & the End of Days by Susan Ee
  5. Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin – Whenever the last book finally comes out, I’ll be all over these.
  6. Gracie Faltrain by Cath Crowley – Cath Crowley wrote my favorite Graffiti Moon, but these books have been hard for me to find in the US.
  7. Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard – I’m binging this series in the next week or two and I can’t wait!
  8. Legend by Marie Lu – bought all of these at once when I saw them in Target a while ago.
  9. Gentlemen Bastard by Scott Lynch – I hear only fabulous things, but these are HUGE books that only get HUGER as the series goes on. The only thing keeping me from these are time – I’m going to want to binge so I need like a whole month set aside for this series.
  10. The Archived by Victoria Schwab – this is a judgment-free zone.

Special appearances by Delirium Trilogy and the Chemical Garden Trilogy, which I need to FINISH despite owning all of the books since the release date of the last one in each series. I’m making time for these this summer, hopefully.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Just Had To Buy

toptentuesday2

This week, The Broke and the Bookish is asking for the Top Ten Books About Friendship, but I’m going to roll with Top Ten Books I Just Had to Buy That Are Still Sitting on My Shelf.

Since ALL OF THEM probably isn’t an option (though it is close to the truth), I will share my shame.

  1. Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein: After Code Name Verity, how could I not immediately purchase, possibly even pre-order, Rose Under Fire? Now I just have to actually READ it.
  2. Something Real by Heather Demetrios: I was approved for this on Netgalley, somehow accidentally didn’t download it time, and completely missed it. Then the amazing reviews started rolling in, so I went and bought a copy…only to leave it on my shelf for months.
  3. Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor: This isn’t so bad, it’s only been a month and a halfish. I think at this point I’m just afraid for the series to end.
  4. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas: I think I need a few more series to end before I get invested in new ones? Can I just keep telling myself that?
  5. Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano: Another pre-order sitting unread. Fun fact: I prefer the new cover.
  6. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin: At this point, I’m waiting for the last book to come out before I start the series.
  7. The Legend Trilogy by Marie Lu: Let’s not talk about this.
  8. Series Enders: I’ve had Sever and Requiem since they came out. I haven’t even peeked at them. I’m planning on a full re-read for both series this summer though, just so I can finally finish them.
  9. In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters: I don’t even know. I still WANT to read it all the time, I just…don’t do it.
  10. The DUFF by Kody Keplinger: Well at least there’s a movie coming out, so I know I’ll read it eventually.

But wait! There’s more! Recently, I’ve bought two books and read them WITHIN ONE DAY OF PURCHASE. They are two very different books, but both were AMAZING and I highly recommend them if you still haven’t read them.

  • Pointe by Brandy Gilbert
  • Open Road Summer by Emery Lord

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Popular Authors I’ve Never Read

toptentuesday2

This week, The Broke and the Bookish is asking for the Top Ten Popular Authors I’ve Never Read. I looked at my shelves and saw a lot of popular series that I have all the books in…and haven’t even started yet! I thought this would be so easy…and I was wrong. It turns out I very much go where the hype is and it’s hard to know what authors are “popular” if I missed the hype. Also, I apparently can’t tell if authors are popular outside the world of book blogging.

  1. C.J. Redwine: I keep hearing really great things about this series. I follow C.J. on twitter. I have not read these books.
  2. Sarah J. Maas: Same as above, but I own some of these books!
  3. Marie Lu: Same and same, except I own this whole trilogy and one of the books is signed.
  4. Kody Keplinger: I own a few of her books due to kindle says and bright colors, but I still haven’t read them.
  5. Rick Riordan: I never made it onto the Percy Jackson train because when it first came out I was under the impression that I didn’t like fantasy and Harry Potter was a fluke.
  6. Jenny Han: I hear all these terrific things and have some of her books from kindle sales but ti-i-i-ime is not on our side.
  7. Julie Kagawa: I won the second book in one of her series in a giveaway, so I bought the first one. And there they still sit on my shelf untouched.
  8. Susan Dennard: This is one I’m trying to rectify ASAP, because I really want to start these books. Having the third book for review is at least going to push me to actually read them!
  9. Michelle Hodkin: At this rate, I will be the last person to start the Mara Dyer trilogy while owning all of the books.
  10. Susan Ee: I kind of want to stop everything I’m doing right now and read Angelfall. That is all.
